The Norwegian Minister of Environment Mr. Vidar Helgesen invited all member states of the UN to attend the Conference through a notification from the Executive Secretary of the CBD to the National Focal Points for the CBD. Governments were invited to send two national experts – one from the biodiversity sector and one from the agricultural sector.
Invitations were also sent directly to selected speakers, experts, relevant UN agencies and international and non-governmental organizations.
The Norwegian government provided travel support for one participant from each sector from countries eligible for such support according to criteria under the CBD, i.e. countries listed on OECD’s DAC List of ODA Recipients.
The travel support covered participation costs related to travel (economy class), accommodation and subsistence.
Invited participants have been kindly requested to complete the following steps in order to complete their registration for the conference.
Support for expenses incurred during visa application is not part of the travel support scheme, but may be given in some cases. Please contact the Secretariat for more information.
