Miljødirektoratets veileder for vurdering av miljørisiko fra forurenset sediment fokuserer på risiko for spredning av hazardous substances fra sedimentene, virkninger på human helse og virkninger på økosystemet. Vurderingen foregår i tre trinn, der hvert trinn er mer lokalt forankret, mer arbeidskrevende og mindre konservativt enn foregående trinn. The Norwegian environment agency guidelines for environmental risk assessment of contaminated sediments focus on the risk of release of hazardous substances from ontaminated sediments, the impact on human health and the impact on the ecosystem. The assessment is carried out in a tiered approach at three levels, with increasing complexity and demand for local data. The greater the amount of local data, the less conservative the risk assessment. The guidelines are harmonised with the system for classification of contaminated sediments.
