Handlingsplan for damfrosk (Pelophylax lessonae) 2019 - 2023
Om publikasjonen
Pool frog (Pelophylax lessonae) is one of Norway's most threatened vertebrates.
It occurs in a very small area at one location in southern Norway. To ensure long-term survival of the species it is necessary to secure existing pool frog habitat, and increase the number of breeding sites and the number of individuals through active intervention.
The action plan calls for annual surveys of winter survival and reproduction and monitoring of abiotic and biotic conditions. Knowledge gaps will be systematically addressed. Inhabited ponds will be subject to habitat improvement measures, and local ponds will be considered as potential new habitat. A breeding program is established in Kristiansand Zoo, and frogs and tadpoles will be released from the zoo into breeding ponds. An appendix to the action plan will be made annually with a detailed progress plan.
