Identification of POP candidates for the Stockholm Convention

Om publikasjonen

More than 10,000 chemicals are known to be used as additives in plastics.

Their known PBT (Persistent, Bioaccumulative and Toxic) characteristics, production volumes and empirical data were scrutinized to evaluate their potential as POP (Persistent Organic Pollutant) candidates for nomination under the Stockholm Convention.

A five-Tiered approach was used to identify nine chemicals for further investigation. Additional chemicals of interest that may have similar usages and/or persistence and bioaccumulation potential were also suggested to follow up.
