Nona- and deca-brominated diphenylethers in seabird eggs from Northern Norway and Svalbard

The aim of the present study was to determine levels of nona-brominated diphenylethers (BDEs) and BDE-209 in seabird eggs.

Eggs were collected from herring gulls (Larus argentatus). Atlantic puffins (Fratercula arctica) and black-legged kittiwakes (Rissa tridactyla) in 1983, 1993 and 2003 at Røst and Hornøya (Northern Norway). Furthermore, eggs of glaucous gulls (Larus hyperboreus) were collected in 1997 and 2002 at Bjørnøya (Svalbard)
