Cold Venting and Fugitive Emissions from Norwegian Offshore Oil and Gas Sub-report 3B Abatement opportunities and reduction potentials
Om publikasjonen
Prepared for the Norwegian Environment Agency
Techniques (technologies and methods) have been identified which can eliminate a number of sources of direct methane and nmVOC emissions. These techniques are already in use on production facilities off Norway today.
Adopting the identified emission-free techniques on new facilities will sharply reduce direct methane and nmVOC emissions from these compared with the amounts released from facilities currently on stream. The additional cost of implementing such measures on new facilities is expected to be small or non-existent.
Where existing facilities are concerned, the position is completely different. While it is also technically feasible to implement emission-free techniques on these, this would call for fairly extensive modification work with a correspondingly high abatement cost.
